Singlehander beats the rest and take Line Honors

Updated: Sep 2, 2023

A sensational win on the 167-mile course for solo sailor Jens List from Sweden. The experienced sailor took the Line Honors on the 167-mile course ahead of the entire doublehand fleet.

It has never happened before at the Vegvisir Race that a singlehand sailor becomes the first boat back in Nyborg. The 167-mile long route has taken the participants from Nyborg, through the Rudkøbing Race, through the South Funen Archipelago, out into the Baltic Sea at Marstal, past the Fehmarn construction, past Gedser north to Grønsund through the Småland Sea before finishing in Nyborg.

Friday at 20.09.42:, Jens Listrup in his Norlin 411 Gerda Ulrika XI passed the finishing line in Nyborg. Since Friday morning when the boats were at the entrance to Grønsund, they sailed upwind. Jens Listrup steadily closed the gap of some 4 NM and at one point he had a 4 nautical miles lead over second-place Franz Schollmayer and Fanko Braun in the Corsa 30 Firlefanz. But the lead scrunch to a 0,4 NM lead on the last leg as Jens Listrup got caught in a wind hole. He managed how to find. wind before being overtaken and there by secure his spot as first boat back.
