Vegvisir Race was present at Boatshow Denmark in Fredericia this past weekend. We had a great time talking to sailors from Denmark, Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

We also met representatives from the Danish yachting industry, as well as teachers, headmasters, and students from several sailing boarding schools and Danish folk high schools (a non-formal residential school for adults focusing on personal development, culture, and learning without exams — a concept worth exporting, in our view).

One clear takeaway: many young sailors are interested in adventure sail racing and in taking a step closer to real offshore sailing.

Spread the word

The feedback we received was overwhelming. People responded very positively to the Vegvisir Race concept and format:

• new courses every year

• both single- and doublehanded participation

• a strong focus on safety

• challenging navigation

• and the combination of Sailing & Socializing, including concerts and the Saturday afterparty

At the same time, we were reminded that even strong coverage in national and international yachting media, combined with social media campaigns on Facebook and Instagram, is not always enough to reach everyone.

We met recreational sailors living and sailing very close to Nyborg who had never heard of Vegvisir Race.
