In the early hours of Saturday morning, the German Arcona 465 Intoxicated was the first boat to cross the finish line on the demanding 184 nautical mile Red Course at Vegvisir Race Nyborg 2025.

Skipper Thoralf Wigger and co-skipper Mathias Kuhn reached the line at approximately 02:00 AM, after a thrilling night of tactical sailing and tight navigation. In a post-race interview now available on Facebook GO TO INTERVIEW, the duo shared insights from their race:
“We were on a beat south of Zealand, but the rest of the course was all about staying fast with frequent headsail changes,” said Wigger.
One of the most nerve-racking moments came during the passage south of Fejø. With a draft of 2.5 meters, the keel of Intoxicated came within just 10 centimeters of the seabed according to their echo sounder — a true white-knuckle moment in the dark.
Despite the tension, Intoxicated lived up to its name and delivered a spectacular performance, leading the fleet and claiming Line Honours in the XL category.
Congratulations to Thoralf and Mathias – your precision and perseverance have set the bar high for this year’s Vegvisir Race.
