After a fast and demanding passage around the 184 NM Vegvisir Race course, the first boats are now closing in on the finish line in Nyborg.
Leading the Fleet: Intoxicated

At 23:00 Friday night, the German boat Intoxicated, an Arcona 465 skippered by Thoralf Wigger with co-skipper Mathias Kuhn, was positioned between Lolland and Omø on starboard tack – heading straight toward Nyborg with just 20 nautical miles to go. They are expected to cross the finish line around 03:00 Saturday morning, making them the likely overall front-runners in this year’s race.
With her 46 feet, Intoxicated competes in the XL doublehanded category and has been setting the pace since early in the race.
The Chase: Joy and Gerda Ulrika
Second overall is Joy, a J/112 competing in the Large doublehanded category. Skippered by Rémi Provost and Thomas Hansen, Joy was 28 NM from the finish line at 23:00.
In third position overall – and leading the XL Singlehanded class – is Gerda Ulrika, a Norlin 411 helmed solo by Jens Lisby. He trails the leaders by just over 8 NM.
A Nighttime Finish and a Race Well Sailed
All three boats are expected to finish during the early hours of Saturday morning. Whether sailing alone or as a team, each of these skippers has tackled one of Northern Europe’s most challenging offshore races with skill, determination, and endurance.
Stay tuned for the official finish times and more updates throughout the weekend.
Fair winds to the rest of the fleet still on course!
