Kalundborg Sailing Club's Martin Meredin takes the lead after the first day of the Singlehand Danish Championship 2024.
The two opening course races of the day were held in light winds from the southeast and on flat water, providing participants with a technically challenging start to the championship.
Meredin, sailing in a LANDMARK 43, has shown impressive precision and leads the competition after the first two races. Jakob Nielsen from Køge Motor- & Sejlklub is in second place with his DRABANT 38, while Sweden's Rasmus Rosengren in his J105 takes third place, reports Maja Brandt Bech to the boating press.
95 nautical miles race on Friday evening
The championship continues tomorrow with two more course races, starting at 09:00. In the evening, a demanding 95-nautical-mile long-distance race awaits, which will be crucial in determining the overall winner. This final part of the competition takes place in the notorious Smålandshav, known for its treacherous conditions.
The overall winner will be crowned on Saturday after the concluding, grueling race. The tension is high, and all participants are determined to fight to the finish.
